How B2B Marketers Engage on Twitter (New Report)

If you’re a B2B marketer or if you sell to them, then you’ll be happy to hear that our latest social media insights report is now available. Why? Because this time it’s about, “How B2B Marketers Engage on Twitter”.

To create this special report, we analyzed and summarized the Twitter activity of 500 North American-based B2B marketers during the period June 1 to August 31, 2013 (resulting in an analysis of 113,039 tweets and 70,245 shared links).

Why Twitter activity? Social media data has a leg up on other data sources such as surveys, polls, and focus groups; it shows what people really do… versus what they say they do.

Which topics do B2B marketers talk about on Twitter?

Hashtags are great for offering insights into the topics, events, and national and local news that catch attention. From our analysis, we can see that social media, content marketing, mobile, and big data represent active, top-of-mind conversations for B2B marketers. Good to know when thinking about topics for your upcoming content marketing, right?

What are the top content sources for B2B marketers?

Industry media sites represented 62% of the content shared while mainstream media content comprised 25% of the top shared sources. Many of the industry publications feature submissions from B2B marketing thought leaders and experts, and have robust email and social media distribution that keeps their content in front of these senior marketers on a daily basis. What content sources are you using to leverage your paid advertising, public relations, and thought-leadership “by-lines”?

Which vendors are most influential with B2B marketers?

One of the interesting findings from the report is the emergence of top vendors as thought-leaders and publishers in the eyes of B2B marketers. For instance, in the list of the top 25 industry media content sources shared by B2B marketers are the Hubspot Blog, the Eloqua blog, and Want to know which vendors are doing a good job of content marketing? Start with them.
